How To Add Addon Domain To Hostgator | Quick & Easy

Hey guys, Bryan here with WP Cupid Blog and
today I’m going to be showing you how to add an addon domain in Hostgator quick and easy. The first thing we want to do is login and
go to our Hostgator Cpanel. We want to scroll down to the domains section. Once you find the domains section you will
see that we can click on addon domains. I want to show you a second method to get
to this domains section. Over on the left hand side you will see all
the links in the menu area. If you click on domains you will see that
it will take you right to the domains section. So let’s click on addon domains. Once we click on the addon domains we are
going to see that it says create an addon domain. Underneath that it will say domain name. This is where we are going to type in the
domain name you have purchased. Once you do that it’s going to auto populate
the subdomain and document root. Under that your going to see a box that you
can check. if you want to create FTP credentials. I advise that you do this. Enter the credentials you want to use. So enter the username that you want to use
and then the password. Once you get through adding the credentials
just click on the add domain button. And that is how you add an addon domain in
your Hostgator hosting account. Alright guys, thanks for watching. I’ve provided a step by step summary in this
video via text in the description below. Give this video a thumbs up and subscribe

  1. We provided the summary of this video with step by step text instructions in the description above. Enjoy!

  2. Thanks for the update!

Just passing this along but in 2018 I noticed there is an issue with the Document Root folder settings on Hostgator iCloud Hosting backend when adding a domain to "Addon Domains"……

For some reason (hostgator glitch) It doesn't auto-populate the public_html/ before the domain name putting the addon domain outside the public_html/ which i have found to cause 404 file not found errors….

Thanks to this video I see the correct settings!

    CORRECT: Doc Root: public_html/

NOT CORRECT: Doc Root: (as suggested by hostgator icloud settings)

  3. I have registered addon domain and I have installed WordPress to the addon domain.
but the problem is that I still can't link to the addon domain. All I see are some addon domain files. Do you know what should i do?
(i just follow the same way I built the first website before. )(i register baby plan)

  4. WORST HOSTING EVER!!!!! Host Gator knocked both my websites and offline without warning because of CPU usage.

I needed to wipe our my website, Stopped Google Adsense and needed to stop Google from crawling the site… ALMOST FIVE DAYS LATER and the site is still not up and all I get from the help desk is "I apologize our best admins are working on it."

I even upgraded the site a few months back because in order to do anything I had to wait 5 minutes for the screen to change. I smoke cigarettes outside my house. I literally had to hit the Publish" button then go out an have a cigarette, and come back and STILL wait for the draft to be published.

USE A DIFFERENT WEB HOSTING company. I won't say which because it'll make this review look like an ad, just don't use Host Gator
